Rückblick auf die kalten Tage
Wer weiß, wann es wieder kalt wird. Deshalb zur Abwechslung noch mal schnell ein paar frostige Eindrücke. Hier regnet es jetzt viel, was mich freut!
Vom Frost geküßt: Blattgeschichten aus dem Wald.
Wie losgelöst schwebt dieses gefrorene Blatt auf ein paar Zweigen.
Der Ilex bietet anderen Blättern einen Platz zum Verweilen.
Ein „Rindenkringel“, wie ich es nenne. Kein Keks :-) Von Frost und Licht verziert.
Das Blatt unterbricht den Rhythmus der dahinfließenden Holzstrukturen.
Manches Blatt bleibt gar frostfrei…
…während es andere voll erwischt.
Wie die Blätter, so die Saat: Bucheckerhülle, Echte Nelkenwurz und etwas, was ich dauernd sehe, aber nicht kenne. Alles von der Eisprinzessin geschmückt.
Diesen Herbst wollten manche Bäume ihr Laub gar nicht loslassen. Im Wald sah der Boden noch richtig bunt aus.
Und kann mir jemand sagen, wie diese Saat in das Brombeerblatt kommt?
The frost has gone a little while ago, but I still have some pictures I wanted to show you. „Stories“ of leaves and see. Who knows when it gets cold again? The weather is warm here now and we have lots of rain. I am glad about that. We had too less of it the whole year through.

Das schwebende Blatt ist sehr erstaunlich. Und der „Kein-Keks-Kringel“ erinnert mich an ein Chamäleon-Auge. 🙂 Die frostigen Bilder wirken alle irgendwie knackig.

Unter dem schwebenden Blatt ist ein Zweig ;-) Chamäleon-Auge ist gut! Der Rest hat sich wahrscheinlich selbständig gemacht, hihi.

Bei uns ist es seit Tagen regnerisch, was sehr schade ist und ich hoffe sehr, dass es dich noch winterlich wird.

Danke Hanne. Ich freue mich ja über den vielen Regen. Als Schnee wäre er mir auch willkommen, aber so ist es auch gut. Wir hatten letztes Jahr einfach zu wenig davon. Mal sehen, wie dieser „Winter“ weitergeht! Ich fürchte ja fast, daß wir spät noch starke Fröste kriegen. Das war die letzten Jahre oft so. LG

Ich denke, Wind bzw Sturm haben die Samenkapseln dahin getrieben.
Frostige Schönheiten.
Merk Dir die Stelle der unbekannten Pflanze und schau, was im Frühjahr dort kommt
(Ich vergesse es leider zu oft)

Wenn wir dasselbe meinen, dann leider nicht. Es ist etwa 20 bis 40 cm hoch, oben sind nur die Rispen zu sehen. Die Blätter gehen nur bis zur Mitte der Pflanze. Die Blüten sind meines Wissens auch winzig. Vielleicht finde ich im Blog noch mal ein Foto, aber ich glaube, das hat nie richtig geklappt mit dem Fotografieren.

Ha, ich habe es gefunden. Es ist das Große Hexenkraut Circaea lutetiana. Urplötzlich fiel mir ein, daß ich vor Jahrzehnten mal ein paar Pflanzen gepresst hatte, die ich eingescannt und am Computer bearbeitet habe. Und da ist diese Pflanze dabei gewesen. Wieso ich nicht vorher dran gedacht habe, keine Ahnung! Was für ein Zufall :-)

Ich konnte nie ein gutes Foto hinkriegen, weil ich sie hier immer in so schattigen Bereichen sehe. Dann die winzigen Blüten, wollte nicht klappen. Aber daß ich ausgerechnet die mal gepresst hatte, schräg!

Ich tippe ja drauf, daß es ewig lange mild bleibt und dann im März wieder in den Keller geht. Wäre blöd, so wie jetzt schon alles treibt.

Bienen sind/waren hier in den warmen Tagen auch schon unterwegs. Das kann auch nicht gut sein.

I’m glad you’re getting the rain you need. Looking at nice frost photos while it’s warm outside – maybe that’s the best of both worlds. ;-) The softly colored leaves on the ground make a beautiful picture. Also, the third photo – with two side by side – beautiful! And as you know, I see weird things like the leaf pierced by a seed stem all the time. Crazy!

Yes, I have been thinking of you and your funny findings! It IS crazy. It would be interesting to lie somewhere in the woods at night and wait for the goblins and dwarfs that do such things ;-)
I am curious if we get a kind of winter this year. Now it is too warm. Plants are thriving. I fear we get cold late in March again. How is it in your area?

Your idea about creatures playing at night is something Joe would say, too. I like it! There’s still time for you to have a cold spell later this month or in February. We had a very, very unusual, super-cold, and snowy time earlier in December and now it’s back to normal. Maybe a little warm but really pretty normal, which means most days are gray, there is some sun, there are strong winds sometimes, and drizzly rain pretty often. Temperatures are around 4-7C during the day and a little colder at night but not below freezing now. Right now California is getting terrible weather – at least 12 people have died from being struck by trees or drowning. It’s crazy down there!

4-7 is not much, especially together with rain and wind. This week temperatures are going down again. I am not really happy about it, but I think it is better for nature. Too many plants are already thriving and I fear the bumblebees can leave their hibernation places too early. Nothing is blooming now, besides of hazelnuts.
I looked for California. Awful! It reminds me of similar catastrophes here, when small rivers get to heavy streams. Unbelievable. But together with landslides it is even worse. We talked about it before and I fear we will experience more of this kind of extremes. It will be difficult to cope with it in the future. Many catastrophes are so opposite.

I exchanged weather comments with several people this week and everyone agreed that we need more rain but we feel conflicted because it’s been so comfortable having this warm, dry weather. So I agree, it’s better if we get closer to a normal, cold winter. You said hazelnuts – I was so excited to see a native hazelnut looking beautiful on the side of the highway last week when we drove up to Bellingham for physical therapy. It’s not a common tree here and I forgot all about them, then I saw those beautiful catkins, so pretty!
Yes, weather extremes are here and you have a good point – many of them swing from one extreme to the opposite, which makes it even harder. In California, years of drought are followed by a deluge of rain that the soil cannot handle.
Well, we are cooler now, too. More normal. Let’s enjoy it.

True! I can enjoy a rainy day. Time, to do things inside, enjoying a warm tea. Before the years of drought we often felt we have to go outside here in northern Germany, when the weather was sunny, because you never knew what was supposed to come next. Now I am much more relaxed, because it is dry half year through. But I like the change, I like the smell of earth after rain, the clear and clean air, when rain has washed away all the dust. It is nice too! We had a bit of snow last night, but not much. Maybe it is gone tomorrow.
What you write about California is really extreme!

It’s interesting how your habits changed with climate change – already! I love the rain smells – in cities, a friend used to say it was a metallic smell you would notice when it rained and I loved that, too. By September up here I’m so tired of sunny, dry weather because often there won’t be any rain at all for many weeks. It really does freshen everything. On the toehr hand, too much rain for too many days? No, thank you.
(I think CA has always tended to extrmems in climate).
