Herbst, blauer Himmel, bunte Blätter
Was will man mehr?

So fresh and pretty! We have Robinia in the US – it’s called Black locust – it’s only native in the southeast but people like it, and you see it in lots of different places. My partner had one in his yard (before I knew him) and lightning struck it. It had to be removed, and even though they removed all of the stump, the tree kept growing back. Good old nature, triumphs again. :-) And that’s Amelanchier turning red? How beautiful! Our Amelanchier doesn’t do that, maybe becasue it grows in places where it can’t get enough sun, I don’t know. We have so many super-tall Douglas firs and other evergreens, the understory trees and bushes do not get a lot of sun. Or maybe the temperatures are too moderate here to make leaves turn color. The leaves on our Serviceberry are toothed only on the top half; the bottom part is without teeth. That helps me to ID them in the woods. ;-)

That sounds great, the evercomingback-robinia :-) I like it when nature wins :-) I don’t know what temperature is influencing the colour of the leaves, but you are probably right, that a special mixture is needed your area doesn’t provide. I love the Amelanchier here, because it is one of the trees with a wonderful red! – Haha, you are very clever in guessing trees :-)

Once again you give me more credit than I deserve – I look at the tags and text, and figure out what I can. You almost always give Latin names so I can look them up. For the Black locust, it did look very familiar and I knew it was probably in that family, but I don’t know trees that well so I wasn’t sure. Beautiful photos, Almuth! :-)

That’s the German side of me – my father – his parents were the ones from your region, and he and his brother were both research scientists. My brother, too, so science – or at least research – is a strong current in the family. :-)
